Avatar of Lyssa seems gimmicky. AoHM (Aura of Holy Might) as well.
12+1+1 scythe
9+1 earth
6+1 wind
7+1 mysticism

Avatar of Lyssa
AoHM
Vow of Piety
Heart of Fury
Sand Shards
Whirling Charge
Victorious Sweep
Radiant scythe

...I'm not a big fan of having to teardown manually and these recharge in blistering fast speed (3 for whirling charge and 5 for sand shards). There's no nonelite teardown attack that will charge in <3 seconds so you don't have a choice, you bring these 2 skills or bring Eremite's attack + Irresistible sweep for 3 effective recharge. On the adrenaline side you have more options given that once you get adrenaline coming in you can chain attacks: wearying strike/reap impurities/crippling victory (5 strikes), rending sweep (6 strikes), twin moon sweep (7 strikes).

If you drop Earth prayers you lose out on having something to cycle when whirling is down.

12+1+1 scythe
8+1 wind
10+1 mysticism

Avatar of Lyssa
AoHM
Vow of Piety (the new "conviction")
Heart of Fury
Lyssa's Haste
Whirling Charge
Victorious Sweep (Mystic sweep is +16)
Radiant scythe

I don't think it's a strong enough template, given that AoHM only gives 25 holy damage, plus 33-50 or so cold from Whirling Charge or 45-50 or so from Sand shards. Granted, it's basically a +25 to 50 damage (after armor) on your attacks every 2-3 seconds for almost free (in terms of both time and energy) if you have 2-3 enemies (due to Avatar of Lyssa). Probably need a EBSOH to boost the stuff form Sand shards and Whirling charge.

I used this for a bit. Eremite's Zeal gives big energies. Was thinking Pious Fury instead, but I have to work out the recharges to have an enchant always for Pious Fury while always using Pious Assault on recharge. Might have to take out the shout.

I've been having great success using AoL to power HoHF>Pious Assault>Reap Impurities.

Pious Fury is a great instant enchantment removal skill too.

My problem with Heart of Holy Flame is that it doesn't do anything to write home about (25 [email protected]=eternal aura). Whirling charge gives you 33% IMS and you don't need to invest more energy or adrenaline to teardown. Sand shards recharges as quick as HoHF, but it takes into account armor. It doesn't need to be stripped either, since it ends on its own in 4 hits (~5 seconds, which is the ideal time for a recast).

If you don't want to leave Mysticism, Zealous Renewal has a better effect of fueling your next combo's energy.

I think the candidates for Avatar of Lyssa teardowns that require you to teardown manually are:
  • Balthazar's Rage (+2 adrenaline) - 10 base recharge ... +2 adrenaline every 5 seconds isn't bad
  • Eremites Zeal (minimum of +4energy and up to +16 energy) - 15 base recharge - insane energy management when used with Lyssa's...you're already stealing energy on end, this is overkill
  • Zealous Renewal (+3ish energy, +1 per hit while up) - 10 base recharge
  • Heart of Holy Flame (20ish holy damage, burning) - 10 base recharge
  • Rending aura (cracked armor, crappy cold damage, remove enchants from knocked down foes using attack skills) - 6 base recharge (wind)
  • Lyssa's Haste (interrupt, 33% recharge boost while up) - 15 recharge (wind)
  • Dust Cloak (bad earth damage, blind)- 6 recharge (earth)
  • Aura of Thorns (bleeding, cripple) - 10 recharge (earth) ... I feel this is terrible now that crippling sweep and crippling victory have been changed
  • Staggering Force (bad earth damage, cracked armor) - 6 recharge (earth) ... aura slicer/rending aura is probably better
  • Conviction (lame conditional +10 armor and minimal HP regen, 2 conditions removed on end) - 10 recharge (earth) ... I would rather use Harrrier's Grasp. It's guaranteed to remove one nasty condition, the other ones (weakness, blind possibly also)
  • Enchanted Haste (25% IMS, 1 condition removed on end) - 15 recharge (mysticism)
  • Grenth's Fingers (transfer 1-2 condition, crappy cold damage) - 10 recharge (wind)
  • Mystic Corruption (disease, remove disease on party)- 10 recharge (mysticism)

Better to upkeep:
  • Grenth's Aura (15-20ish life steal while up) - 10 recharge (wind)
  • Fleeting Stability (25% IMS, knockdown prevention) - 10 recharge (earth)
  • Veil of Thorns (reduces spell damage by 20-30ish%, crappy piercing damage) - 15 recharge (earth)
  • Shield of force (knock down attacking foes+ weakness) - 12 recharge (earth)
  • Mirage Cloak (60-70ish block, crappy earth damage) - 10 recharge (earth)
  • Attacker's insight (weakness, 50% block while up)- 10 recharge (wind)
  • Harrier's Grasp (Cripple on moving foes while up, lose cripple+ 1 condition on end) - 15 recharge (wind)

There's 26 flash enchants and 16 normal dervish enchants.

Whirling charge (33% IMS while up, crappy cold damage)- 6 base recharge (wind) - side benefit of not needing adrenal or energy based skills, you don't want to use this with Pious Assault though

While Pious Assault is effectively 3 recharge, you don't have the energy to support it unless you run Radiant Scythe/Eremite's Zeal.

Additional:
Meditation (+3ish energy when enchants end = more energy management)
AoHM for +25 damage per ending enchant
Mystic Vigor = enchant stacks = more HP
Vital Boon = big heal, but 1 cast time without Signet of Mystic Speed makes it not worth tearing down constantly

For Pious Assault I feel this is better than HoHF
12+1+1 scythe
8+1 wind
10+1 mysticism

Avatar of Lyssa
AoHM
Rending aura
Heart of Fury
Zealous Renewal/Eremite's Zeal
Whirling Charge
Pious Assault
Radiant scythe

Zealous Renewal/Rending Aura --> Pious Assault ensures you have more energy for Radiant Scythe

All in all, it is less energy intense, Eremite's is on sideboard since it doesn't do damage.

On a side note, AoL +Dust cloak> Ebon dust aura.

Im a big advicate for AoL already enjoying it massively. Balthazar's Rage and whirling charge are giving me some good numbers to start. It makes twin moon sweep very accessible.

Thanks for the great info.

Assuming I'm doing my math right, 25 holy damage + 4 seconds of burning should be a net of 81 AoE Damage that can be reloaded every 5 seconds with Lyssa. I think that's bar worthy IMO. Looking at my bar, you really can't take more than 3 feeder enchantments (assuming 2 attack skills, the avatar skill, AoHM, and a IAS). The Dust Cloak skill is for sure. Eremite's Zeal is really necessary too for energy. That probably can leave from for a longer recharge Flash Enchantment.

Regarding the IAS skill, I'm still liking the Pious Fury one. This Lyssa build really shines if you have fast enchantment turnover to keep everyone around you blind. I forgot the mechanics of the game (sorry, I'm totally new to this dervish), if you recast an enchantment that is still up do you not get the "end effect". So if anything, I'm wanting for more enchantment removal (obviously being careful not to strip AoHM).

I posted this in another thread, but this new dervish totally has a "Street Fighter" vibe to it with powerups and combos. I think I'm really going to like it.

Casting an enchantment that is already up does simply replaces the duration on the old one and does NOT trigger any of its affects. One of the reason they added more front end affects on the enchantments was to make it less punishing for accidentally recasting an enchantment that you already had on you(that you want the end effects of).

Now, since I have only been playing with my dervishes skills while farming, I have a quick question.

Are there any skills I can use to tear down multiple enchantments at once? I want a damage spike or ARMOR IGNORING damage. All these edits make playing easier and simpler, but before I could output significantly more damage.

One thing I was glad about however was that even though Lyssa turns your damage into Chaos damage the properties of the attacks stay the same. For example holy damage (with armor ignoring properties) still retains its armor ignoring properties while being relabeled chaos.

I've been playing a bit with the Avatar myself, I must say that it's lot of fun and can pack up pretty much aoe damage combined with AoHM and the right enchants, the trick seems to be to maintain your energy for a steady flow of damage. So far I've been having fun with this one which I must say works really nice but I am open for suggestions.

Unless you Contemplation of Purity (10 recharge) or Release enchantments (5 recharge) there's no way to get rid of a stack. It has potential if you run AoHM + a FD mesmer (fragility+ fevered dreams) and a ST rit instead of Monk hybrid or ER prot.

I was thinking of that but it would probably be counterproductive also tearing down Strength of Honor, Eternal Aura (could be useful for rez...), and other monk enchants.

Even though Eremite's Zeal gives big energies, I've settled with Zealous Renewal instead and added Wearying Strike instead of IAtS for moar spam. The build is somewhat strip resistant.
